Luxury Home

When Designing a Luxury Home there are specific considerations that influence the completed home. When the Jensen’s commissioned me to Design their new home (The “Piazza Cenci“- Derived from The 16th-century Palazzo Cenci, built on the remains of a medieval castle that rose from the ruins of a Roman circus) they had bought an existing house on a prime property that was built in the early ’70′s.

Needless to say, the existing structure was outdated and did not take into consideration the views from the mountaintop real estate, or the topography of the land on which it was built.

Early in our working relationship the Jensen’s brought to my attention that they had a number of young grandchildren so they wanted to be sure their new home would be family friendly inside and out.

With the grand kids in mind we created a special bedroom for them to accommodate the occasional sleep overs. This room includes a built-in bed embraced with playful draperies and shelving with favorite photos and memoirs.

Taking into consideration the breathtaking views from several vantage points of the property the home was designed with viewpoints inside and out.

Surrounding Environments Considered

The lower level loggia provides an ideal retreat in the spring and summer months while entertaining guests or watching the children at play.

The balcony up above is accessible from the dining room to enjoy the views of Mt. Adams, St. Helens and Mt. Hood on a clear crisp day and a excellent place to enjoy your favorite beverage while viewing the city lights and a beautiful Northwest sunset.

Last, but certainly not least. The design of the Jensen’s new home “Piazza Cenci” includes a “home” for his prize car collection.
Since this corner lot slopes down from front to rear the design includes a separate garage at the lower level for the collector’s cars. Both the upper and lower garage have a series of windows that allow natural light into the areas providing a more comfortable feeling of security as well as no need for electrical light during the day.

Special Interests Factor in the Design

The lower garage includes built-ins for storage and a place for a quiet retreat to enjoy a few hours of reading or perhaps a fine cigar.
